Camping...

Art Center/Spoon and Cherry...

Fun in MN

I've loved every minute of being in Minnesota these last few weeks. Knowing that I'm leaving soon has helped me appreciate spending time with the people I love. Friends and family!

I...spent 4 days in Wisconsin with my Grandmas (and cousin), toured the Basilica of St. Mary, visited the Walker Art Center, took my picture in front of the "spoon and cherry", have gone out for Chinese food too many times to count (yumm!!), went camping, saw a demolition derby, have done lots of stargazing...

I'm going to...go to the Como Zoo (tomorrow), go to Valleyfair (Wednesday), go camping again (this weekend)...

My next post will be some pics from these things...

Lists

As many of you may know, I love making lists. But sometimes lists are not just fun, they're necessary!!

It seems these last few weeks have been filled with notes scribbled on paper and put into orders of importance. Well, it's starting to pay off!

So far I have almost everything I need for living in Korea for a year. I made a list, checked it twice, and went shopping! All I need are a few more shirts and I'll be set to go. It's great--almost everything fits into 1 big check-in and 1 big carry-on.

Today I went to the post office and sent in everything I need for the visa. So far so good...Now all I need to do is wait. And wait. Ah! I'm impatient and it's only been a few hours...It's only supposed to take a week to get back to me though :)

My latest list has been checking to see that I can fill out the application form for graduate school. I'm hoping to apply for Hamline University before leaving for Korea. When there, I'll take a few classes towards my Masters in Teaching. I have 7 years to complete it, so even if I spend a few years overseas, the degree will wait for me :) I like that! It looks like I have most things for the application except for a few references and the essay (it's 1/2 done...).

Camping

One of my favorite summer activities is camping, and I was blessed to be able to do it this year with my friends from church and ESL (there were 22 of us)!! What a fun experience even though a little short. One night definitely isn't long enough :)

I got to know the international students a lot better and just enjoy the precious time that we have together before I leave for Korea. It's always great spending time with church friends too! We set up all the tents, cooked dinner and breakfast together, played on the playground, walked on the boardwalk, took a late hike in the woods without flashlights, and played soccer together.

Even though I'm more than excited to go back to Korea, it hurts me to leave these special people God has allowed me to get to know. I love all of them and will miss them so much.

(Pictures to come in a few days...)

The Rainbow

I love rainbows and what they represent. After the great flood, God gave us the rainbow as a reminder that the earth would never again be consumed by water. It is a beautiful reminder of how peace comes after the rain. It's a symbol of peace. Don't worry, the rain is here now and will be gone in a moment.

My life now seems like it's in the middle of the rain still, but I can see the rainbow. There have been a few visa issues, but I'm happy that God is in control of everything. I don't have to worry, because if He wants me to take this job, then things will work out. That doesn't mean I get to relax quite yet, but I can see the end in sight.

It's definitely been fun getting ready to leave for Korea. I have really enjoyed spending time with my mom shopping for shoes, clothes, and other things I might not be able to get just how I like in Korea. I don't want to let myself get too excited because who knows what might happen, but I can't help it. I'm so ready to teach again!!

The Sand Dollar

Have you heard the Legend of the Sand Dollar? I'm always amazed at how God can be seen in nature -- especially this little creature.

There's a lovely little legend
that I would like to tell,
of the birth and death of Jesus,
found in this lowly shell.

If you examine closely,
you'll see that you find here,
four nail holes and a fifth one,
made by a Roman's spear.

On one side the Easter lily,
its center is the star,
that appeared unto the shepherds
and led them from afar.

The Christmas Poinsettia
etched on the other side,
reminds us of His birthday,
our happy Christmastide.

Now break the center open,
and here you will release,
the five white doves awaiting,
to spread Good Will and Peace.

This simple little symbol,
Christ left for you and me,
to help us spread His Gospel,
through all Eternity.

BACK 2 SEOUL

Well, things have finally turned around, and God has opened the door allowing me to return back to Korea. I'll be working at Korean Bible University pending that the visa goes through.

I'm more than excited to go back and do what I love--teach English to Korean people!!

I will miss everyone here, but that only means that we'll have to make this next month fun enough to last the year in Korea :)

Thank you for your prayers. God truly is a good God and He answers our prayers in His timing.

4th of July Weekend

This last week was filled with fun! 3 of my friends from church and I went to a drive-in restaurant, saw fireworks (twice!), and spent time at my parents' house.

None of us had been to a drive-in as far as we could remember, so it was a really great experience sharing that together. The food was ok, but the atmosphere was what made it worth it. There were lots of classic cars and many nice people. After dinner, we headed to Plymouth to watch the fireworks in the park. They were amazing!! Definitely the best fireworks in the area.

On the 4th, we spent the day at my parents' house in Shakopee, and we went kayaking, fishing, played bocce ball, grilled out, and played cards. I love spending time with these girls, so it definitely made the holiday a special one this year!! At night, we met Lianna downtown to watch those fireworks. Not as good as the ones in Plymouth, but still really fun to sit with all the people and do sparklers ^^
